Could’ve saved herself from the fall

Clutched the pain in her left breast

No matter how blue the sky was that day, or how bright the sun she could not lift this feeling of hopelessness and fear that welled up inside her. The world was full of colour and bird song. None of this reached her. All she could see was gray and all she could hear was white noise. This buzzing, cause by a million thoughts flying through her mind too fast to be coherent, constricted her. She shut her eyes and pressed her hands against her forehead. She was mocking him. Even he was mocking him. The way her frail little arms were wrapped around his waist. The cheesy smiles stuck firmly to their faces. He wondered why he hadn’t realised when the picture was taken, just how much of a cunt he’d looked like. He drew his attention away from himself and back onto Jennifer. I was twenty-two years old when I got out of rehab. I stayed with an old friend who was living with his fiancée and their newborn son. I slept on the couch and did not work. I spent my days in a drug haze and my nights in a drunken stupor. It was then that, little to my knowledge, my life was slipping away. I had found that cliff and I was teetering on the edge with only a few pebbles as footholds, I was bound to slip at anytime.
